The short version
Own organic and AI search, end to end
We're a Bristol digital agency that does everything in house, and we need an SEO & GEO Manager to join our SEO team and run organic and AI search for a portfolio of our clients.
Thirty hours is full time here, paid like a full week elsewhere. You'll deliver on key SEO accounts from week one, lead those client relationships, and grow the function with us as we win more.
The role
What the job actually is
- 30 hours a week across five days, 4 to 8 hours a day, agreed with you. Thirty hours is our full-time week for everyone, not a part-time version of a full job.
- £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience. Hour for hour that's £43,750 to £56,250 at a 37.5-hour agency. We've benchmarked it against current Bristol rates; ask and we'll show you.
- Permanent and hybrid: Tuesday and Wednesday at our office on Whiteladies Road in Clifton, the other days wherever you work best. Fully remote isn't an option.
- You report to the MD. There's no account-management layer between you and the client.
- A part-time senior SEO fronts a few long-standing accounts while you settle in. You'll deliver on key accounts from day one and take over hers as she steps back.
- New SEO and GEO work we win lands with you.
- Two interns and an apprentice to direct and develop.
- This isn't a role to run alongside freelance SEO work, and we'll ask.
What you'll do
The work, week to week
- Run the monthly SEO and GEO programme for your SEO clients: technical fixes, on-page work, content briefs, internal linking, the roadmap and the reasons behind it.
- Get clients cited in AI answers (Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude): entity work, structured data, content built to be quoted.
- Build links with our placement database, built over 15 years, and our own site-scoring method that ignores what DA and DR can be gamed into.
- Report monthly against each client's targets in plain English, and tell them what moved and what you're doing about it before they ask.
- Lead the client relationship day to day: meetings, questions, renewals.
- Scope, price and write the SEO and GEO parts of proposals and present them with the MD.
- Direct the interns and apprentice: set their week, check their work, teach them.
- Run SEO and GEO on our own site. It's the proof prospects check before they call, so it has to be good.
- Keep our SEO playbook current, and work with the other SEO managers and the Ads, Analytics and web teams so organic, paid and site builds pull the same way.
What we're looking for
Who this is for
- Four or more years doing SEO for clients or in house, with results you can show us.
- Technical SEO you do yourself: crawls, indexation, Core Web Vitals, structured data, migrations. You can write a fix a developer will understand.
- On-page and content work that moves rankings, not just fills a spreadsheet.
- A point of view on AI search backed by something you've measured.
- Link building done properly: sourcing, vetting, judging a site beyond its DA.
- Fluent in Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog or similar, and Semrush or Ahrefs.
- AI-forward: open to AI, willing to use it, and ideally already using it to make your work faster and deeper, with the time put in to stay ahead of the curve. Tell us what you use and what it changed.
- Comfortable in front of clients. Clear writing, clear speaking, no hiding behind decks.
- Organised enough to run several accounts and a weekly plan for junior staff without being chased.
- Within commuting distance of Bristol, with the right to work in the UK.
Nice to have
- Agency experience with retainer clients.
- Ecommerce or multi-location local SEO.
- Looker Studio, basic SQL or BigQuery.
- Paid search literacy.
- Any exposure to how AI agents crawl and use websites.
Please don't apply if
This probably isn't your role
- You leave everything to AI. We want specialists who use AI to sharpen their judgement, not replace it.
- You've only done execution work and haven't run client relationships yourself.
- You need detailed instructions for every task.
- You're looking for a stepping stone and plan to leave within a year.
- You want to run this alongside existing freelance work. This is your focus, not a sideline, and we'll ask.
If you're unsure whether you're the right fit, just ask. Better to clarify upfront than waste everyone's time.

About believe.digital
An AI-augmented, human-validated agency
We're a Bristol agency working with SME clients across SEO, paid media, web development and analytics, and we've been doing it since 2010. Everything is done in house; we don't subcontract client work.
We build our own tools when the market's don't do the job: a link placement database built over years, our own site-scoring method, and an agent-readiness audit that checks how AI crawlers and agents see a site. We sell outcomes, not deliverables, so the work has to work.
We use the best AI tools available, paired with experience and judgement: the tools accelerate the work, our people own the judgement.
